I’ve been listening to the nominated scores while considering these other categories, and Desplat’s arpeggiated plunkings and wispy Francophilia will probably appeal most to voters.
My 2018 Oscar would go to Jonny Greenwood, I suppose, but that’s mainly because the Academy forgot to nominate Black Panther in advance.
